We posted this recap after the 2011 mid-year meeting in Nashville, and it had some valuable content.
One of our five key takeaways:
The industry's demand forecast is quite good with input cost inflation providing some short-term headwinds.
That proved prescient, as cost-inflation was the number one industry story of 2022.
The rest of the takeaways regarding funding, carbon impact reduction, and safety leadership have also aged well.
We’ll be paying close attention at this year’s event too, and we'll summarize the themes and ideas that we believe best apply to the XBE community.
One last thought…
We spent lunch discussing what makes a good conference attendee and settled on three factors:
- Do they connect people? The number one way to make friends.
- Do they participate? Earnest involvement is valuable.
- Do they have fun? Help everyone have a good time.
